BA-4: P & P for Concussion Management


Join Larry Cooper, Randy Cohen, and Labiba Russo for this CEU course for all athletic trainers. Although this course was developed for secondary school athletic trainers, many of the same principles can be applied in collegiate and other clinical settings.


1.Recognize the importance of having a concussion policy and procedure for the secondary school setting.

2.Devise components necessary for a comprehensive concussion policy and procedure for the secondary school setting.

3.Summarize the need for the Secondary School Athletic Trainer to have working knowledge of the current state AT practice act and state concussion laws to develop and implement a policy and procedure.

4.Interpret the material to develop an education program for athletes, parents, coaches and medical staff on risk of concussion and concussion policy.

5.Recognize who needs to be involved in creating, reviewing and approving a concussion policy.

6.Summarize the importance of creating a policy than can be followed.
